Welcome to Suraya

Named one of Philadelphia's "Most Anticipated Restaurant Openings of 2018"  by Zagat, we are so excited to welcome you all to Suraya, a specialty, all-day market and café, restaurant and outdoor garden located in the bustling Fishtown neighborhood of Philadelphia.

Created by Nathalie Richan and Roland Kassis of Café La Maude and Greg Root and Nick Kennedy of ROOT restaurant + wine bar, Suraya is named after the beloved grandmother of Nathalie and Roland, who raised both siblings in Beirut, Lebanon.

As we say in Arabic, "Yalla, Sahtein!" or "Come and enjoy your meal!" with us here at Suraya.

As Seen In:

“This space is in honor of our grandmother's strength and bravery that kept our family together in Lebanon. We hope that her genuine passion for food and family is shown throughout all the details.”

- Nathalie Richan

The Market

Open Tuesday - Sunday

A modern-day bazaar celebrating the variety of life, our all-day café offers various man'oushe options, salads, sandwiches, house-made French and Levantine pastries, Stumptown coffee, cocktails and more. Visit our marketplace for grab-and-go items, as well as a mix of local and imported pantry items like spices and olive oil. Cookbooks, dishes, and kitchenware are also for sale and great gift ideas for the habibi in your life.

The Restaurant

Opening Spring 2018

Get ready to enjoy a full dinner and bar service launching this spring. Suraya will be open for dinner reservations throughout the week and will serve classical and modern, Levant-inspired dishes to satiate any craving. Don't forget to try a glass of Arak or one of our cocktails - which we named after the beautiful words of Lebanese poet Khalil Gibran!

The Garden

Opening Spring 2018

Imagine a beautiful outdoor oasis and lounge with a fire pit to keep you warm, your favorite Suraya cocktails flowing from the bar and the beautiful voices of classical Arab artists such as Farid El Atrash and Fairuz playing in the background. We know you'll fall in love with the atmosphere, and won't be surprised if you end up staying all night enjoying this soon-to-be outdoor garden space.

“You can smell the meats on the grill and the manakish bubbling up in those wood ovens all the way down Frankford Avenue.”

- Philadelphia Magazine
